Enhanced Online Security
As part of our commitment to responsive and reliable service, AmericanWest Bank takes very seriously our responsibility to provide customers safe and secure access to their accounts. That’s why we are taking steps to enhance our online security.
Your online security is our top priority.
Now, we’re implementing an additional layer of security to protect you from fraud.
Introducing new Enhanced Login Security, a free and easy way to help prevent fraud. Register once and you're all set. It’s that simple –and the rest of your online banking experience will remain exactly the same.
This superior security technology identifies you as the true “owner” of your accounts by recognizing not only your password, but your computer as well. If your computer isn’t recognized by us – you’ve logged in from a public computer or one you haven’t used before – we’ll ask you to provide information that only you will know as an additional line of defense to prevent unauthorized access.
There are three easy steps to your new security enrollment: 1) Authentication Image and Phrase, 2) Registering your PC, and 3) Challenge Questions.
How it works - Enhanced Online Security verifies your identity in two-ways. Every time you log in to e-@ccess, the bank identifies you, and it lets you identify the bank using a private image and pass phrase. Beginning September 12, you will be prompted to enroll in Enhanced Online Security before accessing your accounts online.
To enroll for Enhanced Online Security, follow these steps.
- Log in by entering your current User ID.
- Click CONTINUE.
- Enter your current password.
- Click LOGIN.
- Complete the Security Enrollment form.
- Enter an Authentication Phrase for the randomly selected Authentication Image, using no special characters.
- Provide answers for 3 challenge questions. Note these answers are case sensitive.
- Select whether you are logging in with your personal computer, or a public computer.
Only register personal computers that you frequently use and are not available for public use.
- Click SUBMIT.
That’s it. The next time you log in, Enhanced Online Security will recognize you and display your private image & phrase.
Log In with Enhanced Online Security
Once you have enrolled for Enhanced Online Security, follow these steps to log in from your registered computer.
- Log in using your current User ID.
- Click CONTINUE.
- Your Authentication Image & phrase are displayed.
- If they match your private image and phrase, then enter your password; this is your assurance that you are connecting to our site.
If the authentication image and phrase do not match, do not enter your password. Start over, or contact AmericanWest Bank at 1-800-772-5479 option 3 or 509-363-0283 for assistance from
7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Click LOGIN.
That’s it. The system recognizes your registered computer, so no further authentication is needed. You are now securely logged in.
Log In from Other Locations
To log in from computers other than the one you enrolled with, or when logging in from other locations, follow the same steps as above. You will then be prompted to answer one of the randomly selected challenge questions, based on your previously established answers. Answer one question correctly and you will be able to log-in from that computer. You will also be given an opportunity to register that computer for future use.
Please note, clearing your computer’s “cookies” or history will erase the recognition of your PC as registered. In this case, log in as if from another PC and then choose to register your PC again.
Further instructions are available on our website at www.awbank.net. Once you are logged in to e-@ccess Online Banking, you can go directly into free Online Bill Payment to pay almost any bill electronically with ease.
At AmericanWest Bank, we appreciate your business and are pleased to be able to bring you this additional level of fraud protection. If you have any questions about this procedure, please contact our e-@ccess Online Banking department at 509-363-0283.
Sincerely,

Wade Griffith
